DJ Technics to receive Baltimore Legend Award this Sunday

Last year’s recipients included Shawn Ceasar and Blaqstarr.

Baltimore club pioneer DJ Technics is set to receive a Baltimore Legend Award this weekend.

On Sunday, December 8th, the Baltimore Crown Awards will be recognizing those who have contributed to the city’s culture with the honor. The Legend Award will also be given to names like house producer Thommy Davis, jazz vocalist Masya, nightlife impresario Wayne Davis, and more.

“I'm proud to be recognized for my contributions to the culture in Baltimore,” DJ Technics wrote while announcing the accolade on Instagram.

Not only was DJ Technics one of Baltimore Club’s innovators — bringing in his own blend of soul, funk, house, and disco to the genre — but without his collaboration with producers around the East Coast, its Jersey predecessor wouldn’t exist.

The Baltimore Club Awards were established in 2006. It’s unclear how long the ceremony has been distributing the Legend Awards, but last year, recipients included other Baltimore Club staples Shawn Ceasar and Blaqstarr.
